Milwaukee, WI – The Sylville Smith, 24, homicide case over the weekend could bring new light to what actually happened in contrary to what the Milwaukee Police Department has said about the shooting death involving Officer Dominique Heaggan. According to a development in the homicide case related to Smith’s death, a possible witness could shed information to what actually happened when Officer Heaggan stopped Smith and another individual on Saturday. The possible witness, TDW (only identified by initials) posted on Facebook, that he saw Smith run and get shot in the back in contrary to Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn’s statement that Smith was shot in the chest and arm. The Milwaukee Medical Examiner’s Office (MMEO) released information to media that the autopsy showed Smith was shot in the chest and right arm. The MMEO filed the Smith case as a homicide.
A body cam video footage and squad car dash cam video of Smith’s death has not been released by the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) and the Wisconsin Department of Justice (WI DOJ) who has taken over the investigation. The ACLU-Milwaukee and Wisconsin Jobs have called for the MPD and WI DOJ to released the video.
The possible witness has disabled his FB account where the post appeared, but has a second account that is active. The Smith family is asking for the possible witness to come forward. The witness got of the bus at the time when Smith was stopped, saw him run and then was fatally shot by Officer Heaggan, according to his FB post.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice is also asking for anyone who has information regarding the Smith homicide case to contact them.
